Power Banks & Chargers
A power bank is the power you carry, not the power you park. Its whole job is the small things that fail first and matter most: the phone that holds your maps and documents, the headlamp, the handheld radio. A good one disappears into a bag until the outlet does, then it quietly buys you another day of being reachable and oriented.
One number does most of the misleading. Capacity is printed at the cell's own voltage, near 3.7 volts, but charge leaves the bank at 5 volts, so a 20,000 mAh label delivers closer to two thirds of that at the port. Read the output wattage alongside the capacity, and favor a pack you can refill from a wall, a car, or a panel. A smaller bank that charges your phone fast and tops up anywhere beats a larger one that only trickles.
Match the size to the mission. A slim, always-charged bank rides in the commute or get-home bag; a larger one anchors a [Go-Bag & Evacuation] or lives in the [Vehicle & Travel] kit beside the cables it actually uses. The right one is simply the one already charged when you reach for it.
